Resting Hand Orthosis

It’s vital that injured hands can get functional support to aid recovery while also ensuring proper positioning is maintained. The Resting Hand Orthosis provides exactly this, helping to ensure hands and fingers are properly positioned throughout recovery – ideal for post-trauma/surgery use, early contractures and more.

Functional Hand Positioning

Providing a functional resting position to hands, the orthosis also utilises finger separators to encourage correct finger positioning and abduction to ensure that the whole hand is supported. If required, the finger separators can also be removed. 

The palmar section of the orthosis features raised edges, enabling it to accommodate lack of muscle tone and spasticity. It also enables the orthosis to discourage radial or ulnar deviation for increased support and positioning.

Lightweight and Heat-Mouldable

To make the orthosis comfortable and easy to use, it is incredibly lightweight. This is thanks to its Kydex plastic construction. This also enables it to be easily heat-moulded at low temperatures for a better fit and level of support. Additionally, the orthosis also utilises a washable and breathable foam liner which wicks moisture away from skin to increase comfort further and maintain skin integrity. 

Indications of the Resting Hand Orthosis

The Resting Hand Orthosis is suitable for the following conditions and uses:

• Post-trauma
• Post-surgery (e.g. arthroplasty)
• Early wrist, thumb and finger contractions
• Cardiovascular accident (CVA)
• Rheumatoid arthritis

Sizing of the Resting Hand Orthosis

The Resting Hand Orthosis is available for the left or right hand in seven sizes based on seven sizes based on palm width. Use the table below to find the appropriate size:
